From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

We the Media was proposed for deletion. This page is an archive of the discussion about the proposed deletion. This page is no longer live. Further comments should be made on the article's talk page rather than here so that this page is preserved as an historic record. The result of the debate was to keep the article.

It's not clear to me that this book is important enough yet for its own encyclopædia article. It was published only this year. Seems to me like it might be a vanity article. Psychonaut 16:56, 7 Nov 2004 (UTC)

  • Keep. "We the Media" is a legitimate O'Reilly book. Article may need some slight rewriting/NPOVing, but it definitely deserves to stay. Haakon 17:30, 7 Nov 2004 (UTC)
I don't deny that it's a real book, but is it our policy to have a Wikipedia article on every book ever published? Or only the important ones? If the latter, then I think that most recently published books simply haven't been around long enough to become famous or important. Perhaps this one is an exception, which is what this VfD page is for. Psychonaut 22:49, 7 Nov 2004 (UTC)
Dan Gillmor is one of the most-read commenters in his field; I would say that makes this book notable enough to keep. -- Antaeus Feldspar 22:59, 8 Nov 2004 (UTC)
  • Keep. Yes, this book is certainly of significant worth. It certainly isn't getting in the way (not causing disambiguation); and Wikipedia is not a paper encyclopaedia. I recommend, Psychonaut, that you read it. --[[User:OldakQuill|Oldak Quill]] 01:19, 8 Nov 2004 (UTC)

  • Delete. Make a better argument for why it's notable, and let me know on my talk page, and I may change my vote. --Improv 20:59, 9 Nov 2004 (UTC)
    • No thanks, I'll just vote Keep instead, Improv. Yawn. [[User:Radman1|RaD Man (talk)]] 17:43, 12 Nov 2004 (UTC)
  • Keep Its an excellent survey and encapulates the history of what we are about. It discusses Wikipedia and Wiki software Apwoolrich 10:56, 11 Nov 2004 (UTC)
